“If You Quit Listening, I’ll Shut Up” – What Would Ron White Say about “The Virus Among Us” – Infected Buildings & Inflamed Brains
By Thomas B. Cross Executive Director Pandemic Alliances
In an homage to the great comic Ron White who has said so many funny things, this one comes to mind hopefully close to his sage words, “It’s not that the wind is blowing, it’s what’s in the wind that will kill you. If you get hit by a Volvo, you will know.” Not sure what he would really say but he might, “duck and hide when you see the virus coming at you cause it’s blowing in the wind.” Ducking is what you need to be doing where you go when everyone wants to reopen businesses more than they need air. Indeed, everyone I see has long lists of what to do when you reopen and they get longer and longer. I saw the “Our Reopening Plan” from a really cool restaurant in Kirkland, Washington called LeGrand Bistro. I sincerely admire them as this is unbelievably awful that restaurants should have to make so many rules to go for seafood or anything else. I don’t generally go for a table, preferring to enjoy sitting at the bar. The LeGrand restaurant plan doesn’t mention the sitting in the bar area in their Reopening Plan, they reference their higher level authority of King County Opening Guidelines which say “No bar seating is permitted during Phase 2. If an establishment has bar seating it must be closed off to prohibit use.” This is getting crazier by the minute as most County Health Guidelines refer to Washington State Government Health Guidelines which often refer to the Federal Government source that everyone refers to the CDC Guidelines. And, while most people respect them, most would agree that the CDC, WHO and nearly everyone else doesn’t really know what’s going because what they know changes every day as there is new impact like that what is going on with medicines, children, vaccines, symptoms, PPE and more such as from National Geographic: Inflamed brains, toe rashes, strokes: why COVID-19’s weirdest symptoms are only emerging now.
In the end, who knows what Ron White would really say but I am sure he would hit it and us on the head with something worth listening to and thinking about.
